Jean Hiraga was my audio mentor 20 years ago. I was very lucky. He builds the best sounding systems I've ever heard, hands down. One of them is my avatar.

I have not heard his new system with the 604, but have spoken to him about it. He says it's one of the best he's ever done.

But Hiraga's stuff can be an acquired taste. If you love "Hi-Fi", you may not like his designs. They don't sound like speakers. What they do sound like is real, live music.

Now I just bought a pair of 604-8G's in 612C cabs I think they sound great especially with tubes,the 604 was a mainstay in recording studios for decades .He probably has a pair of Radio Shack Mach 1's

His rants are fun to read but I don?t put much stock in an internet blowhard ripping on a designer like Hiraga.

He?s actually got some really cool equipment if I remember correctly. Strange guy though, kind of a want to be audio mystic with an out of control antisocial streak.

His audio knowledge is quite extensive, but more often than not it's wrapped up in such a disrespectful package that it's usually tossed out with the trash. If he agrees with you though, he's just as polite/respectful as any regardless of how much/badly he trashed you on some other subject(s). After being whipsawed a few times, I finally quit reading his posts, figuring rightly or wrongly that whatever few gems he may have for me wasn't worth suffering through all the unwarranted personal attacks. I can't help but wonder if he has some pretty scary friends/relatives to protect him as some of his more intense personal attacks would be enough for some folks to have the conversation again up close and personal.

That's just my point is he there for audio Knowledge or personal attacks.If you are going to say something to someone that you can't say to their face then they shouldn't say anything period, there is a word for people like that.But I'll pass on that one.Not everyone is going to like the same speakers, that's fine but some people make their opinions personal.And that is not OK

I did alcohol and drug counseling back in the early 80's...in a lot of ways he fits the profile of a "dry drunk".

Dunno if that is his issue or not but he probably could stand some professional help. At minimum anger management.
